Aerospace Adhesives Hollow Glass Microspheres With Conductive Coatings
Hollow Glass Microspheres Description
Hollow Glass Microspheres, also called bubbles, microbubbles, or microballoons, are typically made from borosilicate-sodalime glass blend formulation. These spheres offer low density, high heat resistance, and excellent chemical resistance. The rigid walls are approximately 10% of the sphere diameter.
Available in densities ranging from 0.06g/cm³ to 0.80g/cm³ and diameters from 5μm to 180μm, these microspheres provide varying crush strengths based on wall thickness. Higher density spheres offer greater crush strength. The lightweight hollow glass spheres are chemically stable, noncombustible, nonporous, and water-resistant.
Conductive coated versions are available, providing good conductivity and shielding properties while maintaining the weight-saving benefits of hollow-core materials. These conductive microbubbles are suitable for military applications, biotechnology, medical devices, electronics, and specialty industries.
